From 30 July to 1 August, nearly 25 participants from 10 regions of Azerbaijan gathered for the 2012 Social Innovation Camp. This year, the event was hosted by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation.
The main differences from previous SI camps hosted by Transitions are in the selection process: the ideas came from people who have already participated in special trainings. Another difference was that participants also took an active role in the selection process, whereas in previous camps ideas were selected by a special jury.
Four specialists in web design, programming and social media project development, including myself, were giving advice to groups in order to create an understanding on how the idea can be developed into a workable project.
Four projects out of 17 were selected: tourism in regions via online presence; consultancy on technical issues, project writing and development of project for youngsters; online TV program from nine regions on youth problems/interests; hand-made art from youth and disabled people.
The selection process for the winning project will end after the conclusion of the camp with filling our evaluation forms by invited specialists The winners are expected to be announced 7 August. The winners will get €1,000 as sponsorship for their project, the organizers announced.
